Welcome!

On this site you will find information about the literacy program for Westminster Community Charter School in
Buffalo, New York. Over the years, Westminster, supported by its partnership with M&T Bank and its relationship
with Teachers College Reading and Writing Project, has worked hard to become a beacon in its community and a
model for educational excellence. This site will offer you a glimpse into our reading and writing curriculum and, hopefully, help to build a community of learning amongst educators in Western New York.

Thanks to all who helped to make our October Symposium a success!

The participation in our October Symposium was our largest yet, bringing together teachers from 27 different schools in 12 different districts (some as far away as Rochester!).

Spring is approaching and that can only mean one thing: it's time for the next Symposium at Westminster!

Be sure to mark your calendars for our next Symposium, which will be held on Wednesday March 17, 2010 from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

We are excited to once again open our doors to teachers in Western New York! The March Symposium will, as always, feature classroom lab site demonstration lessons, as well whole-group seminars led by our Staff Developer, Rob Ross.
